The Team

Every city and town in the United States has a youth sports program. These programs are created to get children interested in sports at a young age and involved with a physical activity.

Parents and other volunteers usually run youth sports programs. These people donate their time to coaching the teams, organizing the program, helping with raising money, and so on. Maybe you or someone you know is involved with a youth sports program. It can be a lot of fun and very rewarding.

However, parents sometimes forget what the program is all about. There are some that think that winning and how much their son or daughter plays is most important. Others think that their child will be a superstar and make millions of dollars playing a professional sport. Most people, though, think it is a great opportunity for children to learn about teamwork and stay active.

In this story, you will read about the experience of a well-meaning parent who coaches his son’s basketball team.
