Iroquois in the American Revolution

At the start of the American Revolution, both the colonists and the British tried to win the support of Native Americans.

The British and colonists especially hoped for the support of the Six Nations of the Iroquois Confederacy. This was the most powerful Native American group in the northern colonies and consisted of the Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, Cayuga, Seneca, and Tuscarora.
